On-Demand Training Permitted for Initial Certification for LPG DOT Cylinder/Motor/Mobile Fillers

Starting July 18, 2022, new employees seeking initial certification for DOT cylinder and motor/mobile fuel filling can go online and take the online on-demand course and exams online through the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) or elect to continue taking the course and exams through the Railroad Commission of Texas.

It's now your choice.


It's easy to take the PERC On-Demand Courses online. Register and take courses and exams all on the same day or self-paced as time permits.

  1. Go to https://training.propane.com/

  2. Employee signs up and creates username and password

  3. Clicks on Safety & Technical Training

  4. Clicks on Dispensing Propane Safely

  5. Choose the English or Spanish version (both available)

  6. Sign up for Dispensing Propane Safely Small Cylinder course if seeking DOT Cylinder filling certification, and also signs up for Autogas and Refueling Motorhomes & ASME Mounted Tanks if additionally seeking motor/mobile fuel certification.

  7. Take the Dispensing Propane Safely courses and exams online

  8. Complete new Form 16 P, pay the $40 fee to RRC and submit with a copy of their PERC certificate of completion and a copy of their state-issued ID card or driver's license to RRC.


The on-demand online courses have optional downloadable resources, including a Participant Handbook and On the Job Training (OJT) worksheets that you can use for further additional training, should you choose.
